Last evening around 6 PM Engine 56 and Medic 356 (Upper Merion Fire & EMS) were dispatched for a vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of N. Gulph Rd and W. Valley Forge Rd in the Valley Forge National Park. 56 PD (Upper Merion Police) arrived to a multiple vehicle accident with two trapped. The incident was quickly upgraded to a vehicle rescue bringing all township companies to the scene. Rescue 56-3 responded with a crew of three shortly after dispatch. Deputy 56-3 (J. Recupido) arrived confirming entrapment in two vehicles and established command. Medics and Police were able to free the first victim in vehicle one. Crews from Engine 56-2 (Swedeland Fire Co.) and Rescue 56-3 worked to remove one door to free the second victim in second vehicle. The crew of Engine 56-4 (King Of Prussia Fire Co.) controlled hazards from all three vehicles. The third vehicle involved had no entrapment. EMS units from 356, Chester Medic 2 (Berwyn Fire Co.) and Chester Medic 67 (West End) transported a total of four victims to an area trauma center. Chester Engine 68-1 (Valley Forge Fire Co.) provided additional manpower and scene lighting. 56 PD is still investigating the cause of the accident. Job well done by all last night!
