First Due Basement Fire

Yesterday evening, at approximately 4:30 PM, Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS and units from Bridgeport Fire Department were dispatched for a house fire on the 200 Blk of Crooked Ln. in the King Manor Section of our local. Squirt 56 responded at dispatch with a crew of four. Safety 56-3 (Houseal) arrived to smoke showing and confirmed a working basement fire. Additional units from Norristown Fire Department, George Clay Fire Company - Station 39, and Gladwyne Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched on the Working Fire Dispatch. Upon arrival, Squirt 56 established a supply line and stretched an attack line to extinguish the fire. Squad 56 arrived as second due engine, securing the Squirt’s water supply and assisting inside. Quint 27 arrived as the first due ladder company, laddering the building and assisting inside opening up for the Squirt’s crew. 54 units established IRIT and assisted with overhaul. Engine 24 was assigned RIT. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes. Safety 56-3 held the command. Rescue 56-3 and Traffic 56 also made the response from Swedesburg. Units were clear around 5:45 PM. The fire is under investigation by the Upper Merion Twp. Fire Marshals Office.
