Tuesday Night at approximately 7:00 PM a building fire at the Tabernacle House of Prayer on Dekalb St. in Norristown was dispatched. Squirt 56, operating as the Township Duty Crew, responded at dispatch with a crew of four. Squirt 56 arrived as the second due engine, establishing a water supply into the scene. The crew of the Squirt were ordered to stretch a second attack line off Norristown Fire Departments Quint 27 into the basement to locate the fire. The hose line was then repositioned to the second floor and fire was found in a crawl space. As conditions deteriorated, all crews were ordered to tactically withdrawal and set up for defensive operations. Squirt 56 was repositioned to the A/D corner and set up for use of the Snozzle Device. The Squirt flowed the Snozzle and multiple hand-lines for the next few hours and supplied other master stream devices. The stubborn fire, which was well advanced through many void spaces in the building, was mostly contained in the early morning hours of today. Squirt 56 went available from the scene around 4:15 AM Wednesday morning once relief crews arrived on scene. During the fire, other members back filled the station to staff Rescue 56-3. Additionally, Paoli Fire Company Squad 3 relocated to Swedesburg. Together they, along with other area relocate companies covered the area in case of other emergencies. Good job by all on a cold and windy night! |
