First Due Fire
Mon. Feb 25th 2019

This past Saturday shortly after 7:00 AM Station 49 was dispatched to the storage facility on the 300 Blk. of S. Henderson Rd. for a water flow alarm. Shortly after dispatch the County 911 Center started receiving multiple calls for smoke coming from one of the storage buildings. The assignment was soon upgraded to a Building Fire Response which added units from Stations 47 (King of Prussia Vol. Fire Co.) 48 (Swedeland Volunteer Fire Company) and 31 (Bridgeport Fire Co. No. 1). Upper Merion Township Police Department soon arrived to confirm smoke coming from a storage unit on the second floor. Chief 49 (J. Recupido) arrived and established command. Engine 32 (Good Will Fire Company) and Rescue’s 27 (Fairmount Engine Company # 2.) and Delco 15 (Radnor Fire Company) both for RIT were dispatched on the confirmed fire procedure. Squirt 49 with a crew of four and Quint 31 arrived and began to open up the storage unit and fire suppression. Pipeline and Rescue 49, also with a crew of four each, checked the first floor and adjoining storage units for extension. Crews from Station 47 and 48 assisted with overhaul. Due to a fully sprinklered and quick response, the fire was quickly extinguished and held to one storage unit. We would also like to thank the Reading Fire Dept. and Arson Dog Gracie for assisting the Upper Merion Fire Marshals office with their investigation. Crews were clear within two hours with the exception of the Squirt which assisted with the investigation till noon. Great work by all that were there!
