Fire Police Keeping the Traffic Flowing

Another busy day for fire police with two calls. This morning at approximately 2 am Traffic 56 and fire police were dispatched to West Conshohocken to assist at a vehicle accident. They were then dispatched a little after 3:30 pm to the intersection of Swedeland and River Road due to a vehicle accident that led to downed wires on the roadway. Great work put in by the fire police in keeping residents safe and traffic moving.

On September 1st, 2021 the remnants of Hurricane Ida struck the region leaving a path of devastation. This led to tornados and major flooding in the region. The Schuylkill River hit a major flood stage by 10 pm cresting at a record height of 26.85 feet.

At 12:41 pm today the Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for the 3rd alarm assignment to assist the Lower Providence Fire Department with a Non-Commercial Building Fire. Engine 56-3 responded with a crew of 6 along with Battalion 56-3.

This morning at approximately 00:28 Engine 56-3 was dispatched for a stand by at Union Fire Association, Lower Merion Station 28 while they operated a building fire in their local. Engine 56-3 went enroute with 5.

This morning shortly after 1:30 am Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for an Unknown Type Fire. Shortly after dispatch 56PD (Upper Merion Police) arrived and reported a trash truck to be on fire.

At 22:21 Wednesday night an initial report was sent for a Commercial Building Fire. 2 minutes after the initial report Rescue 49 was dispatched along with other Upper Merion and local mutual aid units. Shortly after 10:00 PM on Sunday, June 23rd Station 49, Ladder 48, and Engine 32 got dispatched to a Non-Commercial Building Fire with reports of flames from the side of the building. Chief 49 arrived on scene to smoke and fire showing.

At 5:35 PM Wednesday, June 19th Station 49 was dispatched for a water rescue in the Schuylkill River. Station 49 was dispatched to assist Station 27 in locating a person who had jumped into the river.

Shortly before 6:45 PM Station 49 was dispatched for a water rescue on River Road (RT. 23). Marine 49 arrived to a vehicle in flood waters. Rescuers entered the water to find one victim who was assisted out of the vehicle and brought to safety.
